This week we reviewed question words with the help of the soccer clubs Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. We practiced making questions about the players on both teams and then watched a highlight of all the goals from a recent match, the Copa del Rey. After reviewing the homework, students took a quiz on those question words.
We continued to talk about the second quarter projects for students in grades 5-8. The students are planning a trip to a Spanish speaking country. Because they do not have Spanish next week, the portion of the project that was assigned is a little bigger. This week's assignment is to exchange US dollars for the currency of their country, find a hotel, write about the challenges they might face in traveling from Columbus to their country, and find a church to go for Mass (8th grade has to write about the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela). Each student in the group is also responsible for writing 2 short paragraphs about 2 different places they will visit on their trip. I also handed out the instructions for the creative portion of their project (it can be a drawing or, for extra credit, it could also be a model). These projects will not be due until after Thanksgiving, but I have encouraged the students to keep working on them so that they won't fall behind.
